Six services, each with its price

Each service carries its own scope and its own price. Three prices are final; the day pass and the paired suite start from the figure shown, and a private group day is quoted in writing before anything is held.

    Unhurried massage

    $95 per hour

    Sixty minutes on the table with one practitioner in a private treatment room. The pressure and any areas to leave alone are asked about before starting, and the full hour is spent on the table. Oils are unscented unless a scent is asked for, and a robe, towels and a locker are included. Send the preferred date through the contact form before anything else.

    Warm stone massage

    $125 per visit

    Seventy-five minutes of massage with smooth stones warmed before arrival and used alongside the practitioner’s hands. The stones are checked for temperature first, and anyone who prefers them cooler only has to say so. It is sized for one person; two people booking together are better suited to the paired suite.

    Sauna and steam session

    $40 per session

    Ninety minutes in the sauna, the steam room and the showers, at the visitor’s own pace. A robe, towels, slippers and a locker are ready on arrival, and water and herbal tea are set out in the lounge. No practitioner is needed, and the heat rooms are shown on arrival in about five minutes.

    Pool and lounge day pass

    From $55 per person

    A full day in the pool, the lounge, the sauna and the steam room, from opening until an hour before closing. The pass starts at fifty-five dollars on a weekday and costs more on Friday, Saturday and Sunday; the figure for the chosen date is confirmed in writing before it is held. A massage can be added at the price shown above.

    Paired suite

    From $210 for two people

    Two people massaged side by side in the paired suite by two practitioners, followed by thirty minutes of private time in the steam room and the pool. The fee starts at two hundred and ten dollars for two sixty-minute massages and rises with the length chosen; the figure is confirmed in writing before the date is held.

    Custom quoted in writing

    The lounge, the pool and the heat rooms reserved for one group of up to eight people, with massages arranged through the day for anyone in the party who wants one. The price depends on the group size, the date and the treatments chosen, and a written quotation follows the first message. Nothing on this website holds a date; the enquiry opens a conversation by email or telephone.

02Approach

One quiet day at a time

Fernhollow Day Spa keeps the number of visitors low on purpose. The practitioner who asks about pressure is the practitioner who finishes the massage, every price is published before anyone asks, and nothing is added on the day that was not agreed in writing beforehand. A visitor reads the price for the stated scope on the Services page, and the figure in the written reply is the figure that was on the page.

    Founder and lead practitioner

    Helen Marsh opened Fernhollow Day Spa on Birch Mill Lane and still gives most of the warm stone massages, warming the stones, asking about pressure before starting and pouring the tea at the end. Helen reads the enquiries about a warm stone massage herself, and her reply states which times are actually open rather than inviting a visitor to hope.

    Daniel Okafor gives the unhurried massages and prepares the paired suite before each booking. The pressure and any areas to leave alone are asked about first, and the full hour is spent on the table.     Sauna and pool host

    Priya Nandakumar looks after the sauna, the steam room and the pool, and shows each visitor round on arrival in about five minutes. Towels, robes and water are kept topped up through the day, and the lounge is kept quiet. A visitor unsure whether a day pass or a single session suits them is answered by Priya in the first reply.

    Tom Reilly answers the contact form, writes the quotations for private group days and confirms every date in writing. He keeps no booking system: an enquiry opens a conversation and a written reply follows during opening hours. Nothing sent through this website books a visit on its own.

Questions visitors ask

How does a visitor choose between a massage and a sauna session?

Read the descriptions on the Services page and choose by the kind of time wanted. A massage is time on a table with one practitioner in a private room; a sauna and steam session is ninety minutes at a visitor’s own pace in the heat rooms and showers. Anyone unsure can describe what they would like in a message, and the spa replies with the one that fits.

Are the prices on the Services page final?

Three of the six prices are final for the scope described beside them. The day pass and the paired suite carry a “from” figure because the day of the week and the length of the booking change the price, and a private group day is quoted in writing. In each of those three the exact amount is confirmed in writing before anything is agreed.

What should a visitor know before a first visit?

Fernhollow Day Spa has three treatment rooms, a sauna, a steam room, a pool and a lounge on Birch Mill Lane. Robes, towels, slippers and lockers are provided. Bring swimwear for the pool and arrive fifteen minutes early to settle in. The spa is a place to rest and makes no claims beyond that, so anyone with a question about their own condition should ask their doctor first.

Can a date be held before anything is agreed?

Yes. One date is held for seven days through the contact form: a message names the date, the service, the number of people and anything the spa should know, and a written reply confirms the date and the amount before it is held. Nothing is charged for the hold.

Does this website book a treatment?

No. Every Book action on this website opens the contact page, and sending that form starts a conversation rather than confirming a date. The form is read during opening hours and answered in writing, and no message is treated as a booking until that written reply is sent.

How is a booked visit moved or cancelled?

Send the change to the address the written confirmation came from, or telephone during opening hours. A change of date, a change in the number of people and a cancellation are handled the same way, and the spa confirms the new arrangement in writing before it stands.

What is provided during a visit?

Every visit includes a robe, towels, slippers, a locker, showers with shampoo and body wash, and water and herbal tea in the lounge. Treatment oils are unscented unless a scent is asked for. Nothing is sold during the visit and no extra is added to the bill that was not agreed beforehand.

What happens to the details sent through the forms on this website?

The contact form passes the message and the reply address to the spa, and the subscribe form stores an email address only. Neither is used for anything else, and neither is sold or passed to a third party. The Privacy page sets out what each form collects, how long it is kept and how to ask for it to be removed.
