Six services, each with its published scope

A price with no scope beside it is not information. Each service below states what it covers, what it does not, and who it suits, so the choice can be made before the first conversation rather than during it.

  • Planning consultation

    no charge

Forty-five minutes with the planner who would run the wedding, in the Peck Street office or by telephone. The date, the guest count, the venues already under consideration and the working budget are all discussed, and the conversation ends with a written summary of what the couple needs rather than what is easiest to sell. No proposal and no design work is produced at this stage.

Suits Couples deciding how much help they want, and anyone comparing quotes from more than one planning office.

  • Venue search and site visits

    $450

A single day of visits to as many as four venues, arranged, driven and attended by a planner, followed within three working days by a written comparison of capacity, catering terms, noise limits, access times and the real cost of each room once the extras are counted. Hire fees and deposits are paid by the couple to the venue directly.

Suits Couples with a date in mind and no venue, and anyone holding a quotation that does not seem to include very much.

  • Wedding day management

    from $1,950

The office takes over eight weeks before the date. Every supplier is re-confirmed in writing, a minute-by-minute schedule is drawn up and circulated, and two coordinators run as much as twelve hours on the day itself, from the first supplier arriving to the last car leaving. Planning done before those eight weeks stays with whoever did it.

Suits Couples who have planned the wedding themselves and would rather not spend the day answering their own telephone.

  • Design and styling

    from $2,600

Eight to ten weeks of design work: a scheme drawn to the actual room rather than to a mood board, with palette, florals, linen, stationery, lighting and table layout specified, costed and put out to suppliers. A styling visit on the morning of the event is included, to set the tables and check the finish before the doors open.

Suits Couples with a venue booked and a clear budget who want the room to look like one decision instead of twenty.

  • Partial planning

    from $3,400

The office joins six months before the date and takes on the work still outstanding: remaining suppliers, contracts, the run sheet, the rehearsal, the budget tracker and the whole of the wedding day. As many as six planning meetings are included, and every supplier already booked stays booked on the couple’s own terms.

Suits Couples who started well, ran out of hours, and would rather hand over the second half than begin again.

  • Full wedding planning

    from $6,800

Twelve to eighteen months from the first meeting to the last car. Budget, venue, every supplier, the design scheme, guest logistics, travel and accommodation, the rehearsal, the ceremony and the reception are all held by one planner, with a written budget tracker updated after every payment. Only one full-planning wedding is accepted for any given date.

Suits Couples planning from a distance, couples working long hours, and events of more than a hundred and fifty guests.

What happens in each of the three stages

  1. 01

    Consultation

Forty-five minutes on the date, the guest count, the venues under consideration and the working budget. It costs nothing and commits nobody, and it ends with a written summary.

  2. 02

    Proposal and estimate

A proposal written to the scope that was actually agreed, with a fixed fee, a payment schedule and the list of what the couple keeps hold of. Nothing is held until both are accepted.

  3. 03

    The date itself

The run sheet goes to every supplier, the rehearsal is taken in person, and the coordinators are on site from the first delivery to the last car.

When another planner is the better answer

Marlowe & Vine Events takes one wedding to a date and never hands the day to a coordinator the couple has not met. Events of more than three hundred guests, and anything needing a licensed bar of its own, are referred to a production company instead. An office that says yes to every date is not being generous; it is being optimistic with somebody else’s day.

It costs nothing, commits nobody, and ends with a written summary of what was discussed and what it would cost.

Dates and finished work, occasionally

An email when new plates go up on the wall or a Saturday opens in the diary. No fixed schedule, and one link in every message removes an address from the list.
