Six services, each with its price
Breakfast, the lunch plate, soup, pastries, coffee and the long table at the back. Each one carries its own scope and its own price, and the price printed here is the price paid at the table.
-
01
Seasonal breakfast
$16 per person
One hot dish built from the week’s market delivery, with bread, a preserve and a coffee or tea chosen at the table. It is served from opening until eleven, Tuesday to Sunday, and no table is held for it in advance.
-
02
House lunch plate
$19 per plate
One midday plate written each morning from what arrived that week: a cooked centre, two vegetable preparations and bread, sized for one person. The day’s plate is posted at the counter by eleven and there is no second choice on the board.
-
03
Soup and bread
$12 per bowl
One soup made that morning, ladled with a cut of the house loaf and salted butter. It is served all day while it lasts and the pot is not restocked, so a late arrival may find it gone; the ingredients are listed at the counter.
-
04
Pastry selection
From $5 per pastry
Laminated and yeasted pastries baked on the premises before the door opens. A box of four is priced at the counter that day, the selection changes daily, and larger orders need two days’ notice through the contact form.
-
05
Coffee service
From $4 per cup
Filter and espresso drinks pulled to order from one roaster, with whole milk, oat milk or none. Coffee is served to the table alongside food and at the counter on its own, and the grinder stops fifteen minutes before close.
-
06
Private table enquiry
Custom quoted in writing
The long table at the back seats ten and is held for one booking at a time. An enquiry names the date and the number of guests, and a written quotation follows before anything is set aside.
One plate, written each morning
Lantern Table Kitchen cooks a short menu on purpose. One lunch plate is written each morning from what arrived that week, the soup is made once and not restocked, and the pastry counter is baked before the door opens. A visitor reads the price for the stated scope on this website and pays that price at the table.

The four people who run the room
-
Eleanor Pryce
Founder and host
Eleanor Pryce opened Lantern Table Kitchen on Lantern Row and still works the room through service, seating walk-ins and answering questions about the breakfast before it is ordered. Enquiries about the long table are read in this role.
-
Tomás Reyes
Head chef
Tomás Reyes writes the day’s lunch plate each morning from the week’s delivery and bakes the loaf the soup is served with, starting on the bench several hours before the door opens. Dietary questions are answered in this role before a visit.
-
Nadia Ferrante
Pastry and coffee lead
Nadia Ferrante sets the pastry counter before opening and chooses the roaster the kitchen pours, tasting each delivery before it goes on the board. Larger pastry orders are quoted in this role in writing.
-
Jonah Whitfield
Guest experience coordinator
Jonah Whitfield answers the contact form and the telephone, confirms what a visitor can expect on the day, and passes dietary notes to the kitchen before the visit rather than at the table.

Miles K. House lunch plate
Before a first visit
How does a visitor choose between the lunch plate and the soup?
Read the two descriptions on the Services page and choose by appetite, because only one of each is made. The house lunch plate is a single dish written on the board by eleven from that morning’s delivery, and the soup is made once and not restocked, so it stops when the pot is empty. Both are served with bread from the same oven. Anyone wanting certainty should arrive early rather than telephone ahead, because neither dish is held back.
Are the prices on the Services page final?
Three of the six prices are final for the scope described beside them. The seasonal breakfast and the pastry selection carry a “from” figure because the plate changes with the delivery, and the private table enquiry is quoted in writing for the group and the date. In each of those three the exact amount is confirmed before anything is agreed. No service charge is added at the table, and nothing is charged through this website.
What should a first-time visitor know before walking in?
Lantern Table Kitchen seats twenty-six and takes walk-ins for every seat except the long table. The door opens at eight and the counter is at its widest in the morning; the pastry shelf is thinnest after two, and the kitchen says what has run out rather than substituting something at the same price. The room is one floor, level from the pavement on Lantern Row, with a counter along one side and a long table of ten at the back.
Can the long table at the back be held for a group?
Yes, and it is the only thing the kitchen holds in advance. The long table seats ten and is arranged through the private table enquiry: a message names the date, the number of people and anything the kitchen should know, and a written reply confirms the date and the quoted amount before it is held. Nothing is held until that reply is sent. The remaining sixteen covers stay open to walk-ins throughout.
Chapter 01 closesThe corner table laid for two, photographed from the doorway a few minutes before the room opens.
