A cold store, a bench and whatever the market brought
Wren Street Flowers occupies one room on Wren Street, with the bench in the middle of it. The walls are white because a colour is easier to judge against nothing at all.
The shop was set up around one working rule: nothing is sold that has not been conditioned on this bench. Every stem is stripped below the water line, cut at an angle and left to drink for several hours before it is used. That rule costs the shop walk-in sales, because a bucket that arrived this morning cannot go out this morning. It is kept because the alternative is a customer watching a bouquet collapse on the fourth day.
Buying happens twice a week and the season decides the rest. A photograph brought to a consultation describes an intended result -- a weight of colour, a looseness, a way of sitting in a room -- and what follows is made from what the market actually produced that week. When a named flower is not there, the shop says so at the quote rather than substituting quietly and hoping nobody counts the stems.
Three things the shop holds to
-
The quote is the price
A published price applies to the published scope. A change in size or flower is quoted before it is made, never added to an invoice afterwards.
-
One florist, one order
The person who takes the consultation is the person who makes the work. An order is not handed along to free up the bench.
-
A substitution is announced
If the market does not bring what the quote names, the customer hears it before the work is made, with what would stand in its place.
The four steps between an enquiry and a finished arrangement
-
Step 1
Enquiry
The contact form or the telephone. A preferred florist can be named; availability is confirmed separately.
-
Step 2
Consultation
No charge, no commitment. Occasion, colours, container, budget and date, written down at the end.
-
Step 3
Quote and market list
The size, the flowers expected and the stand-ins if the season does not deliver them, priced for the agreed scope.
-
Step 4
Making and handover
Made from conditioned stems on the agreed day, handed over in water with a written care sheet.
What this website does
This site publishes the shop's services, prices and hours and carries a contact form. It does not confirm an order. The Book action sends the visitor to the shop's configured booking destination, and a date is only ever confirmed by the shop directly.
Start with a conversation
A design consultation costs nothing, commits nobody, and ends with a written note of what was discussed.
