What the two forms on this website collect, why they collect it, how long it is kept and how to have it removed.

What the contact form collects
The contact form collects a name, an email address, an optional telephone number, the service selected and the message itself. Nothing else is requested and nothing else is required.
It is a general enquiry form and not a secure channel. Social security numbers, account details, scanned identity documents and anything held in confidence for somebody else should not be sent through it; Marchmont Vale Law asks for what it needs separately, once a written scope has been agreed. Sending the form does not by itself make the practice anyone's attorney, and a message is not treated as privileged until it does.
What the subscribe form collects
The subscribe form collects an email address and nothing else. No name, no telephone number and no postal address is asked for.
An address given to the subscribe form is used to send occasional notes about the practice and for nothing else.
Why the information is collected
Contact details are collected in order to answer the question that was asked. Subscribe addresses are collected in order to send the notes that were asked for.
Neither form is used to track a visitor across other websites, and neither is used to build a profile of a visitor.
Who else receives the information
A message sent from this site passes through the hosting provider that serves these pages and the email service that delivers it. Each provider receives only the information needed to deliver the page or message.
No advertising network, analytics service or social platform receives anything submitted through either form.
How long it is kept
Contact messages are kept only while the enquiry is active and for the limited period needed to answer follow-up questions. A record that must be retained to meet a professional or legal obligation is kept for that period and no longer.
A subscribe address is kept until the subscriber asks for it to be removed.
Security, and its limits
Pages and forms on this site are served over an encrypted connection, and access to received messages is limited to the practice.
No transmission over the internet and no stored record can be guaranteed absolutely secure. That is a limit of the medium, and stating otherwise would be false.
Choices a visitor has
Completing either form is a choice. Nothing on this site is hidden behind an email address, and no page requires one to be read.
A subscriber can stop the notes at any time, and doing so does not affect an engagement already under way.
Asking for removal
A request to delete a contact message or a subscribe address goes through the contact form, or by reply to any note the practice has sent.
The business confirms the removal directly rather than leaving the request unanswered. Where a record must be retained to meet a regulatory obligation, the business says so instead of deleting it quietly.
Contacting the business about privacy
Privacy questions go to the same email address as every other enquiry, which is on the contact page and in the footer of every page here.
This notice is revised whenever the practice changes what it collects, how long it keeps it or who it is shared with, and the effective date above moves with it.
