About the grooming room
Brushwood Grooming Room is an appointment-based grooming studio for dogs and cats on Brushwood Avenue in Asheville, North Carolina.
The grooming room offers six services: a bath and tidy, a full groom and haircut, a deshedding treatment for double-coated breeds, a gentle first visit for puppies, nail trims and paw care, and cat grooming on quiet cat-only Wednesdays. Each has a published price and a usual length, and each is confirmed with the owner at drop-off before any work begins.
The studio was set up around one idea: a pet that is not rushed is easier and safer to groom. Only one pet is on the table at a time, dogs are dried by hand rather than left in heated cage dryers, and a pet that needs a pause gets one. That makes the day slower, and the appointment book is planned around it.

The service, the finish and the price are confirmed at the desk. Nothing is added at collection without the owner agreeing first.

Grooming, not veterinary care
The groomers do not diagnose, medicate or sedate. Anything that looks like a health concern is pointed out so the owner can ask a vet.

Pets are groomed one at a time, with short pauses when they need them, and never left unattended on a table or in a dryer.

The front desk asks for a rabies vaccination record and any health notes, so the groomer reads them before the pet arrives.

The front desk calls or texts when the groom is done, with a note of anything the groomer noticed along the way.
What the grooming room does not do
Brushwood Grooming Room is not a veterinary practice. It does not sedate or medicate pets, does not treat skin conditions, ear infections or injuries, and does not express anal glands internally. It cannot promise how a coat will look after severe matting or how long a deshedding result will last. Where a pet needs a vet, or a request is outside what grooming can safely do, the grooming room says so when it is asked rather than taking the appointment.
