About the studio
A control room and a live room on Afterglow Court, set up so that the rate a client is quoted and the rate on the invoice describe the same piece of work.
Afterglow Recording House occupies one floor on Afterglow Court: a control room with the desk against the long wall, a live room behind glass, and a small booth off it for close work. The rooms are treated for what they are asked to do rather than for how they photograph, and nothing in either of them is set up to be admired.
The rate card is fixed. Six services, six rates, and a written scope against each one. A rate marked “from” names a floor and is confirmed in an estimate; a rate without that word is what the stated scope costs. Hours run to the ones published on the Contact page and a Saturday is arranged in advance rather than assumed.
Three fixed principles

Scope before rate
A rate means nothing until the work it covers is written down. The scope is agreed first and the figure is quoted against it.

Nothing added mid-session
Anything beyond the agreed scope is quoted separately before it is started, never folded into a session already running.

The files go with the client
Session files are handed over in the agreed format at the end of the work, whether or not a mix follows at this studio.
A session, end to end

Step 1
Described
The intended result, the people involved and the rough hours are written down, and a service is named against that description.

Quoted
The rate for that scope is stated in writing. Anything that cannot be sized yet is flagged as an estimate rather than averaged into the figure.

Recorded
The session runs to the agreed scope. Anything found beyond it is raised at the time and quoted on its own before it is started.

Handed over
The files are delivered in the agreed format, with a short written note of what was captured and anything left unresolved.
What the studio does not do
No mastering for release, no video production, no rehearsal-only bookings and no equipment hire off site. A session that needs a larger live room than this floor holds is said so plainly rather than squeezed in.
