The people in the shop

Four roles cover the service desk, the lifts and the diagnostic bench at Keel Street Auto Works. Each profile explains the work it handles, the services it supports and when that role is the right first point of contact.

  • The underside of a car raised on a lift in a repair shop, with a technician working on the front suspension.

    Chassis bay

    Suspension and steering technician

Works under the car on the two-post lift, checking ball joints, bushings, struts and steering linkage with the weight off the wheels. The role explains which worn parts affect safety now, which can wait for the next service, and when a repair needs an alignment to follow it. Nothing beyond the agreed estimate is fitted without a call first.

  • A hand drawing the engine oil dipstick from an open engine bay to check the oil level.

    Service desk

    Service advisor and maintenance technician

Takes the first description of the problem, writes up the work order and carries out routine oil services and inspections. The role turns what a customer hears or feels into notes the bays can act on, and calls back with the estimate before any extra work starts. It is also the contact for a pre-purchase report and what its findings mean.

  • Hands working on the cable connections of a car battery inside an open engine bay.

    Electrical bench

    Electrical and diagnostic technician

Traces warning lights, starting faults and charging problems with a scan tool, a multimeter and the wiring diagram rather than by swapping parts. The role reads live data, tests circuits under load and writes up each finding in plain terms, so the owner knows what failed, why and what the fix costs before a part is ordered.

  • The blue column of a two-post vehicle lift in a repair shop, with a silver car parked beside it.

    Brake bay

    Brake and undercar technician

Handles pads, rotors, calipers, brake lines and fluid, along with the undercar work that shares the lift. Rotors are measured rather than guessed at, wheel nuts are set with a calibrated torque wrench, and every brake job ends with a road test before the car leaves the shop.

What the shop covers

Between the four roles, every service on the list has somebody who works on it. Naming a preferred role on the contact form is possible; availability is confirmed separately.

Ask about a vehicle

The make, the model and what the car is doing is enough to start. The shop replies with the drop-off times a bay can take it.
